Dr. Andres Contreras is Professor of Large Animal Clinical Sciences at Michigan State University. He earned his DVM from the National University of Colombia, followed by an MS and Ph.D. at Michigan State University and postdoctoral training at Wayne State University. His research focuses on adipose tissue metabolism, inflammation, and targeted fatty acid supplementation in dairy cows, with significant contributions to understanding metabolic adaptations during negative energy balance.
