Meet the guest:

Dr. Brian Oakley is a Professor of Microbial Ecology in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Western University of Health Sciences. His research applies microbial ecology, qPCR, high-throughput 16S rRNA sequencing, metagenomics, and bioinformatics to poultry nutrition, food safety, infectious disease, and animal health. Before joining WesternU, he worked as a research microbiologist with the USDA Agricultural Research Service. He earned a Ph.D. in Plant and Microbial Ecology from the University of Washington.
